Brian Atwood to Produce Lower-Price Shoe Line

Brian Atwood pumps have been a celebrity favorite for years, but with prices for the shoes starting around $700 and reaching to over $2,000, many shoe-lovers are barred from purchasing the brand. Now, however, the designer has plans to change that. He and his company have teamed with Jones Apparel to deliver B Brian Atwood – a down market extension of the main collection, which will be affordable to the average consumer.

The line, which is expected in department stores in the Fall 2011, will feature styles that range from $200 to $400. The reduced price point will offer the luxury designer a far greater audience while maintaining classification in the contemporary fashion market. According to BizJournals.com, plans for jewelry and handbags are in the works and the additional merchandise is expected by 2012.

“We are excited about our partnership with Brian Atwood, one of the most respected design talents in the industry,” said Jones Apparel executive Richard Dickson. “Brian has made his mark on the upscale footwear market by bringing a fresh, sexy and modern design to all of his products.”

Atwood, whose main line shoes appeared on the runway with Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2011 collection during New York Fashion Week, formerly designed clothing and accessories for Versace before starting his shoe company in 2001.
