Chloe is in the luxe sneaker race with their version of the wedge trainer

We have written about the hard to find Isabel Marant sneaker also known as a wedge trainer.  Chole and See by Chloe bring their versions of the wedge trainer to the race.

Chloe Wedge Trainer

The Chloe wedge trainer is a lace up front sneaker style design and features snakeskin effect panels on the front and the side, stripes on the side, a quilted top panel, and a thick textured sole.

The See by Chloe wedge trainer comes in two colors.  The beige leather and suede version suede has suede inserts on the tongue and ankle and a contrasting lace-up top.

The taupe leather and velour version has beige suede panels on the uppers and tongue, a contrasting lace-up top, designer embossed velcro strap, and a contrasting dark brown  leather insert around the ankle.

All three versions claim to have a concealed wedge heel.  The 9cm tall wedge heel is clearly there and makes the shoe look more like a wedge boot.  While the textures on the Chloe trainer makes it interesting, all interest stops when you get to the base of the shoe.  The white sole may be an homage to an old-skool hightop.  It should stay on an old skool hightop and replaced with something more modern or a  different color.  Even with the suede accents, the See by Chloe beige leather version is too plain.  The taupe leather and velour version has a more sophisticated look and can give any outfit a shot of style.

Who wins the race?
The Isabel Marant still wins.  It is the most versatile of the three options and it does not look like a boot.  Second place goes to the taupe version of the See by  Chloe.  The Chloe wedge rounds out the pack.

This is not the end of the wedge sneaker race.  I expect the summer to bring a new set of contenders.  Let’s see if there is something that can take the winner down.
